If you just sold a car to someone and you are transporting the vehicle through a car shipping company, make sure that you get the car insured before shipping it. If the car is damaged during transport due to an accident or an act of nature, it can cost you an arm and leg. Keep in mind that many car transport companies do not offer to pay for repair damages due to normal road conditions. For instance, if your car is hit while parked in a parking lot, you will have to have carrier insurance to pay for the damages …even if your car is in the hands of the car carrier.

Be aware that if your vehicle is inoperable, you may be charged an additional fee. Don’t hesitate to invest in an enclosed transport, especially if you are transporting a specialty vehicle or an exotic car. When shipping your car to someone that you just sold it to, it wouldn’t hurt to make an extra set of keys, one for the carrier and you should send a copy in advance to the new owner of the car.
